Helping students find their voice - through creativity, connection and care.

What is Xpress Yourself!?

Xpress Yourself! is a six or twelve-week group wellbeing program delivered in Victorian primary and secondary schools by qualified creative arts therapists. Using art-making as a starting point, students are guided through activities designed to build emotional awareness, self-confidence, and the social skills that help them thrive at school and beyond.

The program is delivered in small groups during the school day, fitting seamlessly into existing wellbeing frameworks. It is strength-based, trauma-informed, and adaptable to the diverse needs of each cohort. Delivered by ANZACATA-certified art therapists with postgraduate qualifications and professional experience working with children and young people.

“The program had a powerful impact on our students — fostering confidence, emotional awareness and social connection through creative expression. Students are more engaged and better equipped to manage their emotions, as well as show greater empathy and collaboration."

— Trent Archer, Learning Specialist — Wellbeing & Inclusion, Werribee Primary School

How the program works

Session 1 — Introduction to Art Time + Genius Test

Students discover their unique genius profile — how they think, learn and relate to others. We set up the group's guidelines and begin building trust together.

Session 2 — Play the Genius Game!

Students collaborate to create a visual poster celebrating each genius type, building group cohesion and learning to appreciate each other's differences.

Session 3 — Shape and Colour of Your Feelings

Session 5 — If I Were an Animal...

Using colour and shape, students explore how emotions feel in their body and learn to use art as a tool for self-regulation and calm.

Session 4 — Heart Map

Session 6 — A Habitat for Your Animals

Students map what and who matters most to them, and identify their support people — building self-awareness and a sense of safety.

A playful clay and movement session where students explore their strengths and identity, and share these with the group.

Students build a shared habitat for their clay animals — a collaborative finale celebrating everything the group has created and learned together.
